Special Eclipse Movie in the Park- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Families, blankets and snacks are all welcome to enjoy movies under the stars once a month at Mill Race Park this summer! Don’t forget the bug spray! Movies start at darkfall so sit back and enjoy the feature! Official start times will be finalized 2 days prior.

Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter, Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen becomes the Empire’s lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station’s plans for the Rebel Alliance.

Eclipse Disc Golf Event

April 6 | 11am-2pm | All Ages | Donner Park

Free event to play disc golf at Donner Park in Columbus Indiana. Members of the Columbus Indiana Disc Golf Club will be on hand to introduce, demonstrate, and play disc golf. Loaner discs will be available, or you may purchase a custom stamped disc.

Sensory friendly/quiet egg hunt for individuals with sensory and special needs. Lots of eggs and prizes to win!

Festival of the Young Child

April 13 | 10 am | Ages 8 & Under | The Fieldhouse at NexusPark

Join Parks and Recreation and Children Inc. as we celebrate the 54th annual Festival of the Young Child. This year we will Make a Little Music. Festival of the Young Child is an event celebrating the youngsters of Columbus. Community organizations and businesses that focus on serving young children and their families all work together to put on an event that celebrates children 8 and under, and also is an informational opportunity where families can interact with and learn about the different resources available to them in town. This year, we are Making a Little Music and the games and activities will all be themed around music. Drop in to the Nexus Park Fieldhouse for FREE games, activities, snacks information and enjoy some live music (including a grand performance by Southern Indiana Taiko) and maybe make some yourself!


Spring Basket Class

Ages 18+ | April 4 | 5-9pm | Donner Center | $39

For all basket classes, students should bring a flat blade screwdriver, scissors, a large towel and a spray bottle for water. Classes are taught by Pat Carothers.

Join us for the Total Eclipse of the Parks 5Ks! Run, walk, skip or jump through these untimed 5Ks. Before the Lunar 5K on Sunday, enjoy Lolly’s Pops, TaColumbus, Barbeque & Bourbon, Theo’s Pop Up, Indigo Hot Dog Cart, Hog Molly Brewing and live music at Hotel Indigo. Come back Monday morning for the Solar 5K and Brunchería Espinoza. Complete both 5Ks to receive a commemorative medal. Choose from the interlocking sun and moon medal or the eclipse medal.

**Note there are only 300 interlocking sun and moon medals. If this max is met, registration will be limited to the non-interlocking medal **

Tour de Trails: Run/Walk – POSTPONED UNTIL THE FALL

April 13 | All Ages | Donner Park Shelter | $28 through April 1 | $33 April 2-11 | $10 add-on for t-shirt

Distances available: 8K Run, 5K Run, and 5K Walk

Both the 8K and 5K routes will begin at the Donner Park Shelter, circle Donner Park, travel to Noblitt Park (turn around for 5K), continue on the People Trails to Mill Race Park, turn around and return.

Tour de Trails: Bicycle Challenge

May 18 | All Ages | Donner Park Shelter Start | $28 through May 6 | $33 May 7 – May 17, 8a | $10 add-on for t-shirt

Distances Available: 80K, 50K and 20K

Beginning at the Donner Park Shelter, 20K cyclists will have the opportunity to navigate through our People Trail Network across town. Police support will be present at major intersections for safety. The 50K and 80K routes will lead riders to the west of Columbus, with the former reaching Grandview Lake and the latter heading towards Story Inn. Each route will feature 1-2 SAG stops managed by volunteers offering snacks and drinks.

As a bonus, all participants in the Bicycle Challenge will be treated to a complimentary smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe!
