Small Ice
Our small studio rink (48′ x 75′) is the perfect size for team training sessions, private lessons, birthday parties, and more! When not in use for our group lessons, the small ice sheet can be rented in advance, or used for a drop-in session.
Effective January 16, 2026 we have a new policy for small ice rental. The full policy can be read here.
Advance Private Rentals
Patrons may request to reserve the small ice for a private rental at a rate of $95 per hour at any time throughout the year. The rental request form can be found here.
Private and Shared Drop-Ins
Drop-In small ice time is available throughout the week when the ice is not being used for group lessons or private rentals.
Private drop-ins can be reserved beginning at 8:00 am Friday for the following week. The fee is a flat $50 per hour and allows up to to 8 skaters per session.
Remaining drop-in time slots can be claimed beginning at 8:00 am on Monday for the current week. Claiming this spot determines what sport will be played, but the time will be shared with up to 5 other skaters. Shared drop-ins are $10 per hour per person.
All drop-ins can be reserved by calling (812) 376-2686 or visiting the office during open hours.
Public Skate Sessions
Groups of 20 or more skaters qualify for a group rate during public sessions. Groups exceeding 30 skaters are encouraged to consider a private rental to alleviate overcrowding of public session.

Columbus Parks and Recreation strives to provide welcoming and enriching recreational opportunities for all individuals in our community, including those with disabilities. These are some of the programs that we offer here at Hamilton Community Center & Ice Arena.
Adaptive Instruction for Group Lessons
For those who are comfortable in a group instruction setting that need a little extra support, we are able to provide an additional instructor or aide during our group lessons. To discuss the best fit for you or your child, please visit Hamilton Center or call us during regular business hours at 812-376-2686.
Individualized Adaptive Instruction
We also offer one-on-one ice skating lessons for individuals with disabilities who might need more specialized instruction or a calmer, quieter environment than our group lessons. For more information about this opportunity, please visit Hamilton Center or call us during regular business hours at 812-376-2686.
Sled Hockey
Sled hockey is an adaptation of ice hockey which uses an open frame “sled” for players to sit on and move around the ice. Players use two smaller sticks instead of one long stick. One end of the stick is used as a pusher and the other end has a more traditional blade which is used to control, pass, and shoot the puck. No experience is necessary and all equipment, including helmets and gloves will be provided. Call ahead at 812-376-2686 to set up a session.
Broomball
