Services Provided

Lessons and Programs – One of the things we are most excited about with the Parks Department managing both Greenbelt and Par 3, is the ability for us to offer lessons, programs, events, outings, etc. at a lower price than a private golf course might be able to. Since we are always striving to fulfill the mission statement of our Department, we are confident that it will result in an increased variety of new opportunities available to the members of our community and to those traveling in to stay in Columbus and our County! Your Golf Pro will be available at both locations throughout the week and will be readily available to talk with you about any unique opportunities, in addition to those questions you might have for improving your personal game!

We would also like to ensure that all populations in the community have the opportunity to feel comfortable coming out and experiencing the great game of golf. The Parks Department along with your Golf Pro will be working very hard to create welcoming environments to anyone who would like the chance to learn how to play.

Pro Shop – We maintain a full-service Pro Shop in Greenbelt Clubhouse in hopes that it creates easy access for you to purchase items such as golf shirts, hats, gloves, golf balls, tees, clubs, and bags. If there is something not available in the Pro Shop, please speak with your Golf Pro to determine if we are able to get it in stock for you.

Concessions – We operate concessions during clubhouse hours of operation. You will be able to fuel up before you hit the links, while you’re taking a break before the second 9, or after you’ve finished with your rounds and would like to just enjoy the downtime in our clubhouse. You will find amenities such as a TV and WiFi available for use in the clubhouse.

Driving Range – Greenbelt maintains a driving range and will have three sizes of baskets of balls available for purchase.

Tee Times – During the golf season, we recommend booking a tee time (we make every effort to also accommodate walk-in’s). Please contact the Greenbelt Clubhouse to reserve a tee time, 812-376-2684.

Rocky Ford Par 3 Golf Course

Par 3 golf course was built in 1963 by the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department in response to an identified and expressed need in the community for a beginner and family friendly course.

Rocky Ford Par 3 Golf Course is also home to 18 holes of Footgolf! FootGolf is a precision sport, a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf, being more closely related to golf. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf and players kick a regulation #5 (or #3 for youth) soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened holes with 21-inch diameter cups in as few shots as possible.

Services Provided

Lessons and Programs – Home of The First Tee program for Columbus Indiana, Rocky Ford Par 3 boasts an emphasis on programming for youth and beginners in the game of golf! We welcome two of the area Middle School boys and girls golf programs as they call Rocky Ford their home course for their golf seasons. Your Golf Pro will be available at both locations throughout the week and will be readily available to talk with you about any unique opportunities, in addition to those questions you might have for improving your personal game!

Pro Shop – We will be maintaining a Pro Shop in the Par 3 clubhouse in hopes that it creates easy access for you to purchase items such as gloves, golf balls, and tees. If there is something not available in the Pro Shop, please speak with your Golf Pro to determine if we are able to get it in stock for you.

Concessions – We will be operating a small concessions selection during clubhouse hours of operation. You will be able to fuel up before you hit the links, while you’re taking a break before the back 9, or after you’ve finished with your rounds and would like to just enjoy the downtime in our clubhouse. You will find amenities such as a TV and WiFi available for use in the clubhouse.

Driving Range – While there is not an official driving range available at Par 3 (one is available at Greenbelt), many utilize the open field space across the street from the course. This is Parks Department property, but all balls must be retrieved by your party prior to departing.

Tee Times – Please contact the Par 3 clubhouse to determine if it is necessary to reserve a tee time, 812-799-1437.

Footgolf at Rocky Ford Par 3 Golf Course

“Mankind’s evolution is visible in many ways and the first decade of the new millennium brought us “The Best Game Ever Invented”. A game that upgraded the world of sports to a new dimension, combining the distinction, elegance and precision of Golf with the passion, energy and fun of Soccer in a marvelous sport full of life.” – Laura Balestrini, AFGL President

TEE TIMES & PLAYING TIMES. For the other days of the week, tee times are not required for Footgolf. Par 3 is a first come, first serve golf course and Footgolf players will tee off in the mix of traditional golfers. The course hours of operation are Monday – Friday 9am-Dusk and Saturday – Sunday 8am-Dusk. NO FOOTGOLF TUESDAY EVENINGS 4PM & LATER.

RATES. 9 holes for $5 or 18 holes for $8. Ball rental for 9 hole is $1 and for 18 holes is $2. (Size 5 and 3 balls are available)

THE GAME. We have built this course at our Par 3 golf course, Rocky Ford.

THE COURSE. FootGolf is played on golf courses only. It is necessary to have the golf component to maintain the quality of the course. Bunkers, hazards and golf course particularities help to improve the game.

THE UNIFORM. Since the game is played on a golf course, the basic uniform of FootGolf is golf apparel, with indoor or turf soccer shoes. You might be more inclined though to see knee high argyle socks and collared jersey’s!

GOVERNANCE. FootGolf as a game has been played around the world since ever but, as a sport is regulated by for Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) since June 2012.

RULES. 1) No soccer cleats allowed. 2) Maintain a proper pace of play, as you would in traditional golf. 3) You must kick your ball from up to 6 feet behind the tee markers. 4) Make sure your kick will not interfere with other Footgolf or traditional players. Use your scorecard and wait your turn. 5) Your kick must be one single movement and you may only use your feet to play the ball. 6) Wait to play until the ball has completely come to rest (you cannot stop the ball from rolling). 7) Play the ball from where it lays. You cannot move the ball except to pick it up to mark a spot if it might interfere with another player’s kick or ball. 8) The first player to kick the ball is the player farthest from the hole. 9) If the ball lands in water: retrieve it and place it within 2 steps from closest landing point where the ball entered the hazard and receive a one stroke penalty or place the ball at the position of the previous kick and receive a 1 stroke penalty. 10) The ball may only be picked up to be cleaned or replaced when on the green (golf greens will NOT be used for Footgolf). HAVE FUN!!
