Tots, Trails and Tales

Exploring the outdoors with your child is one of the best ways to help them form a lifelong bond with nature. Join us for story time, a tot-sized walk and a craft; all of which will open your eyes to the wonderful world of nature, and help sharpen your skills as your child’s guide and teacher. This camp will focus on the lifespan of a frog taking you on a journey from tadpole to full grown frog. Every class will include a healthy snack. At the end of the camp, each child will receive a book. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Little Laboratory
Ages 3-4 | June 15 – 19 | 9-11:30 a.m. | Donner Center | $67
Welcome to the Laboratory! Here we will have a fun week of hands on learning and experiments. We will build our own time machine to visit the dinosaurs, study water in all its various forms, and even make our own quick sand. We will put our senses to the test as we become our very own guinea pigs, and wrap up the week with a visit from a bonafide mad scientist, Professor Steve!

Take a Look in a Book
Ages 3-4 | June 22 – 26 | 9–11:30 a.m. | Donner Center | $67
Put on your reading glasses and come along with us as we take a look at some of our favorite books. We will search for our sneaky friend Waldo. We will have Christmas in June with the Grinch. We will learn just how funny words can be with The Book with No Pictures. We will test our imagination and create our own monsters with The Gruffalo. We will round out our week with everyone’s favorite blue cat, Pete.

Jr. Builders
Ages 3-4 | July 6 – 10 | 9–11:30 a.m. | Donner Center | $67
Grab your hard hat and get ready for a week of building! Learn all about construction from tools to big trucks. We will even get a visit from some construction equipment and get up close and personal. We will work on our own construction projects, and get to experience the best part of construction, demolition. We will make our own cabin out of life size Lincoln Logs, work together to build a Lego skyscraper, build with actual Minecraft blocks and so much more!

Cartoon Corral
Ages 3-4 | July 13 – 17 | 9–11:30 a.m. | Donner Center | $67
Put down your remote control and throw out your TV Guide! There’s no need to change the channel because we have it all at Parks and Recreation. Every day we will be transported into a different television show. We will all become veterinarians with our friend Doc McStuffins. We will rescue the town along with all our favorite heroic-pups in the PAW Patrol. Join us on a trip to a pineapple under the sea for nautical adventures with SpongeBob. We will take a journey to the Land of Make Believe with Daniel Tiger. Every child will become a super hero as we dive into the world of Super Why.

Under the Big Top

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the circus! Join us under the big top for a week of carnival fun. We will get to meet some of the animals that are at a circus. We will make our own carnival food. Everyone will develop their very own circus routine! We might even get the chance to throw a couple pies… Camp will conclude with lots of carnival themed games, snacks, crafts and prizes at the Carnival Time Fun Day.

It’s Alive
Ages 5-7 | June 15 – 19 | 1:30–4:30 p.m. | Donner Center | $77
We have day camps down to a science… literally for this camp. We will study the bones of prehistoric predators as we learn about dinosaurs. We will learn about weather and create our own lightening! We will be getting physical and putting Newton’s Laws of Physics to the test. We will have a day of chemistry lessons as we make snow in June, invisible ink and toothpaste for elephants. Throughout the week we will do a study on what tiny organisms are living on our skin and we will dissolve an egg’s shell with acid! The week will conclude with a visit from Professor Steve and a science Fun day.

Adventures in Reading
Ages 5-7 | June 22 – 26 | 1:30–4:30 p.m. | Donner Center | $77
Gear up for a great adventure in the fantastic world of reading! Follow us into a world of pure imagination as we spend a day in the delicious and world of Roald Dale’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Stretch your imagination and your rhyming ability to the limits as we jump into the pages of Dr. Seuss. Solve your very own mystery with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. We will learn about poetry with Shel Silverstein’s classic Where the Sidewalk Ends. Finally, we will re-imagine a classic with The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.

Master Builders
Ages 5-7 | July 6 – 10 | 1:30–4:30 p.m. | Donner Center | $77
Calling all future engineers! Master Builders is a camp for kids who have a knack for invention. If you find yourself spending hours in the world of Minecraft and your favorite toy is a pile of Legos, this is the camp for you. We will be building Lego cars that actually drive, honing the craft of paper airplane construction, and learning about aerodynamics. We will send our toys flying with our own catapult! After a lesson on buoyancy, we will all be able to build our very own boats, and camp will conclude with a Minecraft Mania Fun Day!

Star Wars: Padawan Academy
Ages 5 – 7 | July 13 – 17 | 1:30– 4:30 p.m. | Donner Center | $77
The Force is strong with this one! Join us for a week of Jedi training. Your youngling will spend a week of training honing the body and the mind and master The Force, the Jedi Code, and of course, the way of the lightsaber. We will explore many of the different planets from a galaxy far far away. We will even try our very own blue milk! Every Padawan will finish the week by building their very own lightsaber.

The Greatest Show

Columbus In Motion
Ages 8-12 | June 8 – 12 | 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. | Donner Center | $100
Campers will start their day at Donner, and spend the week exploring all the fun activities Columbus has to offer. We will do a variety of outdoor activities like footgolf, putt putt, and swimming. Highlights of the week will include a pickleball clinic and a show and workshop with world record holding jump roper, the Rope Warrior.

Camp Utopia
Ages 10-13 | June 15 – 19 | 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. | Bus Pick up at Donner Center | $125
A summer camp for those with a strong interest in wildlife and nature with an emphasis on conservation, science, wildlife and animal behavior. Hands on activities, nature scavenger hunt, games and explorations Illustrate all concepts using Utopia’s live educational ambassadors; Duncan the Bald Eagle, Obie the Barred Owl and Cloud the Coyote. Celebrate the week with a cookout and grand finale program for all parents and caregivers on Friday. Transportation will be provided to and from Donner Park, daily snacks provided, bring your own lunch. Camp is supported by a grant from Amos Butler Audubon Society of Central Indiana.

Project D*R*A*M*A

An intro to theater experience for kids who are looking to perform.Campers will audition on Monday morning and on Friday will perform “Seussical the Musical”. Campers will experience some of the technical aspects of the show and work on improvisation. Camp is run by North High School Theater and Choral Dept. staff and students. TAIKO DRUMMING
Discover the art of Japanese Taiko drumming, which has been played in Japan for over 2000 years. The word taiko means big drum, and the art form incorporates large drums, body movement, vocalization, and various instruments. All drums are provided. No drumming experience necessary. All you need is the desire to play, have fun, and a willingness to share the joy of taiko with others. During these fun and energetic classes participants will learn about rhythm and drumming thru the use of games, songs, dance and drumming. Students are encouraged to buy their own drumsticks for $15.

Videogame and Coding

Have you ever wanted to design your own video game? Or program your own robot? If you answered yes, then this summer’s Video Game and Coding camp is for you. Join us as we explore the world of robotics, computer programming and video game design. This camp is a fun and educational first look at the world of coding. Campers will have hands on interactive coding lessons and will be able to program their very own robot. We will look at what all goes into designing a video game and maybe even try out some games ourselves.

Beautiful Columbus

Join us as we take a 5-week artistic tour of our beautiful city. We will meet on Monday evenings behind City Hall and take a walking tour of Columbus with an artist. Every Monday we will stop at a different scenic location and work with the artist to each create our own sketch of a landmark. At the end of camp, the artist will help every camper piece together their art into one large city scape sketch of Columbus.

Navigating young adult life can be hard but we are here to help. This camp focuses on celebrating you for who you are. We will focus on navigating social media, living a healthy lifestyle, managing emotions, and dressing for success.

Columbus Olympia
Ages 8-12 | July 6 -10 | 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. | Smith Elementary | $100
In preparation for the 2020 Olympics, our campers will train to become future Olympians in a fun filled week of constant motion. Campers will swim, bowl, roller skate, bat at the batting cages, do gymnastics, ice skate, and try out zorb soccer and archery tag. We will also have guest instructors to lead a Zumba class as well as a yoga session and will attend an Indiana Fever Game.

Supper Sitters: Babysitter Safety

We’ll explore the characteristics of a good babysitter and cover caring for infants and toddlers, basic first aid and CPR, what to do in an emergency, etc. We will be using the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training curriculum. Participants will receive a variety of related materials including a Red Cross Babysitter Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide and Training CD.

American Girl Doll Fun

Bring your favorite American Girl Doll to life through reading, games, crafts and other fun activities. 2020’s Doll of the Year is Joss Kendrick. We will focus on her love of cheerleading, Southern California lifestyle and surfing. We will be visiting the gymnastics center for a cheer lesson, soak up some sun by the pool and have a visit with a doctor to talk about Joss’ special hearing aids and how they work. Fly high and defy limits just like Joss with us this July!
