Columbus Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to close this facility if we deem necessary due to individuals not respecting guidelines established as indicated below.

Field/Complex Rules

  • Diamonds are open for public use
  • Fields will be lined as necessitated by contracted groups
  • Permit requests will be honored on a limited basis and at the discretion of the parks department
  • Restrooms are opened and cleaned and sanitized per CDC guidelines
  • Social distancing of 6 foot by all individuals in the complex EXCEPT those that have been quarantined in the same household.
  • Mask mandate is in place, when you cannot social distance, you are required to wear a mask effective July 27 – 8/26.
    • Players that are playing in a game, do not have to wear a face covering. Players do have to wear a mask when they are waiting to play in a game. Exceptions are if they can social distance, are not social distanced but are with members of the same household, while they are consuming food or drink, or are warming up pre-game.
    • Coaches must wear a mask unless they are on the field coaching a game, while they are consuming food or drink, or can social distance inside or outside of the park.
    • REFs/Umps and Assistant REF’s must wear a mask during equipment check, the coin toss, and any coach/player conferences necessary unless they can social distance. They do not need to wear a mask when they are on the field REFing/Umping a game, while they are consuming food or drink, or can social distance inside or outside of the park.
    • Spectators who are 8 years and older (that do not meet an exemption) must wear a mask at all times. Exceptions are if they can social distance, are not social distanced but are with members of the same household, or while they are consuming food or drink. Please ensure you social distance from the Assistant REF’s that are mostly on the sidelines, they are under the same guidelines as REF’s while in game play.
    • Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Staff (concessions, athletic facilities, supervisors, full time staff, etc.) unless they can social distance inside or outside of the park or while they are consuming food/drink.
  • Max gathering numbers for each stage of the Governor’s Back on Track Indiana plan will be followed. Under more specific guidance is provided, a “facility” as referenced in the document shall be defined by the location where the diamonds exist.
  • Do NOT come to the complex if you:
    • Have COVID-19 symptoms, which include a cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell.
    • Have been in contact with anyone that has had COVID-19 within the past 2 weeks.
    • Are a high-risk individual and your local health and government officials are directing you to stay home (high-risk individuals include those 65+ and people with serious underlying health conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and illnesses that compromise breathing or the immune system).
  • If not participating in an active sport, face coverings are highly recommended.
  • Abide by the maximum social gathering sizes WHILE ensuring you are practicing social distancing (it is not an either or).
  • Wash your hands and use sanitizer, both frequently. Individuals should bring their own hand sanitizer.
  • Use the restroom before leaving home.
  • Bring your own water or alternate hydration bottle, drinking fountains will not be turned on until after July 4.
  • Sneeze or cough only into a tissue or your elbow.
  • Limit your time at the facility so that you arrive just before you event begins to decrease gatherings. Exit the facility immediate upon completion of your scheduled game.
  • Avoid touching frequently used surfaces such as water fountains, gates, fences, nets, benches, handles, bathrooms/fixtures, etc.
  • Shower and wash and change your clothes immediately upon returning home.

Programs Rules (Adult & youth recreational, travel and permitted uses must follow these guidelines)

  • Bleachers will either be removed or taped off; spectators will need to bring in their own seating. If there are identified social distancing boxes outlined, please ensure you sit in those designated areas. If quarantined in the same household, can sit within the same box, if not, must sit in a different box.
  • No canopies will be set up and there will be a restriction around the concessions awning (reduce gathering spaces)
  • Dugouts will be sanitized according to the latest CDC guidance on the life of the virus on surfaces (fence, team benches, posts leading out)
  • If using the batting cages, you must bring your own bats and helmets, no equipment will be provided.
  • Where drinking fountains exist, they will not be in use until July 4 or later.
  • Limiting spectators to two people per player. (Follow your organization guidelines for this if more stringent.)
  • Recommend that spectators who are 65+ or in a high risk category, take extreme caution when deciding to attend events in the diamond complexes. CDC and Back on Track IN guidelines should be followed.
  • Limited contact between umpires and coaches.
  • Umpires to text or call in scores, and are not allowed to socialize with directors in between games. Please go to area station for umpires during games off
  • Recommend that no more than 3 players in dugouts at one time and they must be spaced out. Players may have to set in bleachers outside dugouts or stand outside being 6 feet apart. (Follow your organization guidelines for this if more stringent.)
  • Recommend that only two coaches be allowed in a dugout.
  • No seating in the outfield behind any temporary fencing.
  • Players should not be allowed to share equipment.
  • No handshaking, high fiving, hugging, prayer lines etc.
  • No gum or sunflower seeds along with anything else that can be transferred from the mouth while playing.
  • All teams will be made to clean dugouts up after finishing their games.
  • All players must provide a bottle of their own hand sanitizer.
  • Allow players to wear batting gloves while in the field.
  • Restrict huddles before games, between innings or after games.
  • Restrict conferences allowed except with coach and pitcher and suggest using a mask to talk when they do.
  • Station umpires according to your sanctioned bodies requirements or guidelines.
  • Recommend no gate to be taken at entry of park.

Concessions Rules

  • Food options will be limited to those that are prepackaged and do not require staff assemble or preparation of food.
  • Counter tops and other public fixtures will be regularly disinfected following use by patrons and staff.
  • All patrons are to stay 6’ apart ordering and receiving food due to social distancing.
  • Concession staff will be provided and required to use PPE while on duty.
  • Stations for staff will ensure that those handling payment will not be the same staff preparing food and drink.
  • A sneeze guard between staff and customers will be put in place to ensure sanitary barrier.
  • Max # of ppl per shift to allow for social distancing at each station in the concession stand if someone is present that cannot wear a face covering.

Restrooms at Diamond Complexes

  • Per CDC guidelines for Parks and Recreation Administrators, restrooms should be:
    • Cleaned and disinfected regularly, particularly high-touch surfaces as faucets, toilets, doorknobs, and light switches. Clean and disinfect restrooms daily or more often if possible.
    • Operational with functional toilets.
    • Regularly stocked with supplies for handwashing, including soap and materials for drying hands or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
